Mary Bellamy is a composer whose works have been performed by leading contemporary music ensembles such as the London Sinfonietta, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Bozzini Quartet, The Composers Ensemble, SEM Ensemble, Ensemble Exposé and Ensemble Musikfabrik, as well as by soloists Richard Craig, Séverine Ballon, Genevieve Lacey, Judith Hamman and Francesco Dillon. Her music has been featured at festivals in the UK and abroad, including the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Cutting Edge and Out Hear concert series, Ostrava New Music Days and Dartington International Summer School, and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. She has received grants and commissions from Blue Touch Paper scheme and Arts Council England, and recordings of her work are available on the HCR and NMC labels. In addition to writing concert works she has collaborated on a number of audiovisual installations, which have been exhibited in New York, Venice and the UK. Mary studied composition at Cardiff University and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and received her PhD from Sheffield University in 2003. She is Senior Lecturer and Head of Composition at the University of Huddersfield.
