Francesca Hilditch is a composer and pianist based in New York and London. Her music prioritises rhythm both in the moment (repetitive motives and patterns) and how it affects the overall form of the piece. She integrates this with a rich colour palette of sound to create another level of motion and movement above the underlying pulse. In addition to composing fixed electronic works, she has worked closely with a wide variety of ensembles and soloists and considers the collaboration with musicians an invaluable and enjoyable part of her compositional process. Francesca’s music has been performed throughout the United States and Europe – highlights including the Wigmore Hall in London with members of the Nash Ensemble, the Alba Music Festival in Italy and La Schola Cantorum in Paris.

During the summers, Francesca has attended and studied at festivals including the European American Musical Alliance, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Cortona Sessions for New Music, Alba Music Festival, and the Atlantic Music Festival. She earned her BM at the Crane School of Music and her MA and LRAM at the Academy studying under Philip Cashian and Helen Grime. Francesca is currently studying for her DMA with Du Yun at the Peabody Conservatory.
