Oboist Jonathan Kelly visits Academy Woodwind Department

This week, Academy alum and Visiting Professor of Oboe Jonathan Kelly spent four days working with our Woodwind Department students.

A highlight of each term for the Woodwind Department, Jonathan's regular visits to the Academy include public masterclasses and a variety of lessons. Over four days this week, Jonathan has worked extensively with our students, leading a performance class for the whole department, taking oboe technique classes and giving one to one lessons and masterclass style sessions.

After graduating from the Academy in 1991, Jonathan held the position of Principal Oboe in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for ten years. He is currently Principal Oboe in the Berlin Philharmonic.

Jonathan is one of many leading musicians who are visiting professors in the Academy's Woodwind Department. We next look forward to a public masterclass from Visiting Professor of Flute Emily Beynon on Monday 17 February.
