Our annual Summer Piano Festival (12 to 14 June), features over sixty pianists this year. The keyboard feast includes: improvising to the 1920 silent The Cabinet of Dr Caligari; Godowsky at the Wigmore; chamber music from Schumann, Fauré, Rebecca Clarke and Piazzolla; music associated with playwright Samuel Beckett; and a whole day devoted to György Kurtág’s wonderfully playful Játêkok.
The Piano Department is proud to announce four new 2024-25 Aud Jebsen Piano Fellowships, awarded to Julian Chan, Ignas Maknickas, Junyan Chen and Sofia Sacco. Associate Honours were announced for recent departmental graduates Isata Kanneh-Mason and Ariel Lanyi who attended the ceremony in mid-April.
