This week we shared accordion student Mingyuan Ruan’s performance of 29 Rue d'Astorg by Cheryl Frances-Hoad. As one of our 200 Pieces, this new work was written and performed ahead of our Bicentenary in 2022. With in-person concerts on hold we have been bringing the project online with a number of virtual performances.
Cheryl's music is a response to Dora Maar's surrealist photomontage of the same name. You can take a closer look at the artwork in this article in The Art Newspaper.
The Hill Quartet, formed at the Academy, perform an excerpt from Verklärte Nacht by Schoenberg with help from our students.
Over 18 of our harp faculty and alumni contributed to this virtual massed harp performance of the Welsh song David of the White Rock.
