Current Royal Academy Opera baritone Johannes Moore and recent Ensemble Piano graduate Ilan Kurtser competed together at the Copenhagen Lied-Duo Competition (pictured above). Over the course of three days at the end of October, Johannes and Ilan performed a range of music by Nielsen, Wolf, Debussy, Strauss and Finzi, and were awarded First Prize in the final round.
2023 graduates baritone Florian Störtz and piano accompanist Mark Rogers took part in the 12th Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Piano-Voice Competition in Paris. The duo were awarded the Melody Prize – Étrillard Foundation Prize.
Royal Academy Opera bass Duncan Stenhouse competed in the Canadian Opera Company's 10th Annual Centre Stage Competition in October, and was awarded Third Prize for his rendition of Rimsky-Korsakov's 'The Song of the Varangian Guest'.
There were also several Academy successes at the annual Kathleen Ferrier Society Bursary for Young Singers competition, which took place on Sunday 29 October. Current Vocal Studies students Lizzie Estrada (soprano) and Aksel Rykkvin (baritone) won First and Second Prize respectively, while current Ensemble Piano student Zany Denyer was awarded the Accompanist's Prize.
