James graduated from the Academy in 2020, having completed both his undergraduate and Master's degrees. Since leaving the Academy he has enjoyed a busy schedule as both an organ soloist and piano accompanist, performing in the UK's most famous venues such as Westminster Abbey, the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. James is currently the Organist and Assistant Director of Music at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge. He has previously held the positions of Acting College Organist and Head of Organ at Eton College and the Organist in Residence at Westminster Cathedral.
James begins his new position as Organist of St Paul's Cathedral in September. In this role, he will lead the eminent cohort of organists who enrich daily services, special services and events at the Cathedral.
The Academy would like to congratulate James on this prestigious and exciting appointment.
'I could not be more excited to be taking up the post of Organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. St Paul’s has the most extraordinary history and its current organ and choral output under Andrew Carwood’s direction is of the highest quality. To become a part of this tradition and to regularly play that remarkable organ is a true privilege, and I can’t wait for the challenges ahead.'
