Adrian joined the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 2011 as Principal Percussion and became Section Leader Percussion in 2012
He is also a member of the Colin Currie Group, Colin Currie Quartet and plays vibes for the Graham Fitkin Band.
Adrian's work with Steve Reich’s music has included over 20 performances of both Music for 18 Musicians and Drumming in Europe, USA and the Far East.
Adrian won BBC’s Young Musician of the Year 1998 while studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, founding the percussion quartet, 4-MALITY, soon after in 1999. Adrian went on to work regularly with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, London Sinfonietta, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the John Wilson Orchestra. He made his debut with the World Orchestra for Peace in 2015.
Other ventures include: performing Stewart Copeland’s Percussion Quartet Concerto, Poltroons in Paradise, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Gubaidulina’s Glorious Percussion with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and featuring on the Kanneh-Masons’ debut album, Carnival.
Adrian was Head of Percussion at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire between 2014-2019 and was formerly Professor of Percussion at the Guildhall School of Music. He spent almost 10 years as one of the lead tutors of percussion with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
