Angelika enjoys an international career, dividing her time between recitals and opera in Europe, the USA and the Far East
She is acclaimed as one of the foremost interpreters of the operas of Richard Strauss and Mozart. For the Vienna State Opera her roles include Dorabella, Octavian and Clairon (Capriccio). For the Royal Opera House her roles include Melisande (Pelleas et Melisande), Sophie (Sophie’s Choice), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) and Octavian.
She has a wide discography for her label Sony Masterworks, which have won numerous awards including a Grammy. Recent releases include discs of Hugo Wolf and Schumann Lieder with Helmut Deutsch, an operetta arias and duets disc with Simon Keenlyside and Handel arias with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and Laurence Cummings.
Angelika appears with the world’s most important orchestras and conductors including the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra and Jansons, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and Rattle, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Muti. Recent concert work includes appearances with the Luxembourg Philharmonique Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Kammerorchester Basel, the Hallé Orchestra and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Her operatic appearances of late have included Seven Deadly Sins and The Rape of Lucretia at the Theater an der Wien and Die Fledermaus at the Wiener Staatsoper. She has performed in recital throughout Europe and the Far East including appearances at London’s Wigmore Hall, and La Scala, Milan.
In 2007 she was made a Kammersängerin of the Vienna State Opera by the Austrian Government. She is a guest professor at both the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Royal Academy of Music where she is also an Honorary Fellow.
