Florence trained as a singer at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles
Her interest in the French repertoire and her love of language led her to work as a French language coach, working in opera houses all over England and Europe for the last 30 years. She has recently been coaching at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, Teatro alla Scala, De Nederlandse Opera and Opera Zuid, the Salzburg Festival, Il Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, the Israeli Opera, the Royal Danish Opera and Stockholm Royal Opera.
Florence has a passion for French song and is keen to help young singers to programme recitals and explore a wide repertoire of mélodies ranging from the 19th to the 21st centuries. She loves working with young singers and has been coaching at the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme (Royal Opera House), Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal College of Music, Trinity College of Music, National Opera Studio, Operahögskolan in Stockholm and Opera Studio in Tel Aviv.
As well as lecturing and doing pre-concert talks and masterclasses, she works with many distinguished singers in preparation for operatic roles, recitals and recordings in England and Europe.
As a freelance translator, she worked for many years for EMI as well as other labels including Chandos, Harmonia Mundi, Deutsche Grammophon, Chandos, Boosey & Hawkes, Faber Music and Decca.
In 2013 she co-founded the Academy of French Song and Opera, which is based in the south of France near Toulouse.
