Jelani studied at Stanford University and the University of Oxford and trained with the British American Drama Academy.
He has performed as Coalhouse in Ragtime, Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors and Milo Davenport in An American in Paris. Other university theatre credits include Caliban in The Tempest, Jason in Medea, and Speed in The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
He has also sung in soul, funk, and Afro-fusion ensembles, and directed an ensemble focused on musicology across marginalised communities globally.
He will soon complete a PhD focused on austerity and justice in Jamaica.
He is excited to explore performance opportunities across all genres. Ultimately, he hopes to pursue meaningful storytelling through the performing arts, community engagement and scholarship.
Jelani holds a Disney Theatrical Productions Scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music.
