Icelandic mezzo-soprano Silja Elsabet Brynjarsdóttir completed her BMus at the Academy in 2019

She is now studying on the Royal Academy Opera course with Alexander Ashworth, supported by a CHK Foundation Award.

On the operatic stage, Silja has sung roles including Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Hippolyta (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Czipra (Der Zigeunerbaron), and scenes from Eugene Onegin, Carmen, Le roi d’Ys, Béatrice et Bénédict, La favorita, The Fairy Queen, Falstaff and Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor.

Silja is an established artist in her native country and appeared in recital at the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavík in January 2020. Her solo CD recording of 24 songs by Oddgeir Kristjánsson was released in January 2021.
