ELGAR Serenade for String Orchestra in E minor, Op 20

SCHUBERT arr Mahler String Quartet No 14 in D minor, D 810, ‘Death and the Maiden’

Magnus Johnston, Concert Master of the Royal Ballet and Opera, directs the Academy String Orchestra comprised of first-year string students in a programme that opens with one of Elgar’s most popular compositions and culminates in Mahler’s transcription of Schubert’s feverish ‘Death and the Maiden’ quartet.
