Versatile director, conductor, and pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips leads the Academy String Orchestra, featuring first-year string students. Well-known pieces by Bartók and Beethoven frame Gordon Jacob’s Viola Concerto No 2, specially composed for the inaugural Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition.
Part of a series of events marking 50 years since the death of viola virtuoso and Academy alumnus Lionel Tertis.
