RHIAN SAMUEL Locomotion
GRAHAM FITKIN Vent
PIAZZOLLA arr Bruce Edwards Histoire du Tango

The spotlight is on the clarinet in this programme of works from the last 50 years. Immerse yourself in the distinctive timbral quality of four clarinets together and the bold rhythmic gestures of Rhian Samuel’s Locomotion and Graham Fitkin’s Vent, before embarking on an arrangement of Astor Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango.

One of Piazzolla’s most emblematic pieces, Histoire du Tango traces the colourful history of this dance – from its origins in the bordellos of Buenos Aires via the 1930s, cafes and ballrooms, to popular culture in the 1960s and the contemporary concert hall.
