The Academy hosts the launch of Song For Someone: The Musical Life of Kenny Wheeler, co-written by Head of Jazz, Nick Smart and trumpeter Brian Shaw.
The Academy holds the Wheeler archive in its collections and the Academy Jazz Orchestra recorded an album at Abbey Road Studios of lesser-known or never-before-heard early works called Some Days Are Better: The Lost Scores.
The evening’s performance will feature some of that music alongside Wheeler’s later work, played by special guests and jazz students at the Academy
