MOZART Piano Sonata No 8 in A minor, K 310
Mozart’s first keyboard sonata in a minor key conveys all the drama and heartache experienced by the 21-year-old composer, who in 1777 was attempting to build a career in Paris. Help and solace came to him from England in the form of a square piano and an old friend. Pianist and researcher Dr Elena Vorotko lifts the lid on the 1785 Ganer Square Fortepiano - a similar instrument - and the stories surrounding this work.
