BRITTEN The Burning Fiery Furnace

‘God, give us all the strength to stand against the burning, burning murd’rous world.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are thrown into a fiery furnace by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar for refusing to worship his golden idol.
Can they withstand the flames?

First performed at the Aldeburgh Festival in 1966.
