A programme of selections from Pauline Oliveros’ Sonic Meditations – guided workshops exploring sound, dedicated to the ♀ Ensemble and aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, where all are welcome to participate.
Born in Texas in 1932, Pauline Oliveros is known for her collaborative, mixed-media compositions and tape music, as well as for her meditative praxis of ‘Deep Listening’.
This concert also features pieces by Morton Feldman, John Cage and Linda Catlin Smith, drawing together a range of composers who have engaged with the art-song tradition through the lens of American experimentalism, plus two world premieres by student composers.
