BRAHMS Horn Trio in E flat, Op 40
BERKELEY Trio for horn, violin, and piano, Op 44

Now a cornerstone of chamber music repertoire, Brahms’ Horn Trio solidified the viability of a remarkable combination of instruments: horn, violin and piano. British composer Lennox Berkeley followed this precedent in his lively and characterful 1952 Trio, written when he was Professor of Composition at the Academy. Hear both works side by side in this vibrant lunchtime concert.
